The arrests were made on charges of possessing illicit substances, including MDMA and cannabis. Viral videos circulated on social media depicted NDLEA operatives forcefully entering the musicians’ home in the early hours of a Thursday morning in the Lekki district of Lagos State.

Witnesses alleged that the officials conducted the raid without search warrants and subjected the Marlian artists to mistreatment, including physical assault.

The NDLEA officers were observed wielding clubs and firing into the air, coercing the individuals into awaiting trucks. Confirming the raid, an NDLEA spokesperson stated that their personnel had conducted a search at an area within the Idado estate where associates of Naira Marley resided.

Subsequent searches of the apartment and car yielded cannabis and MDMA. MohBad, Zinoleesky, and the other detainees were subsequently released.

Also, MohBad announced his departure from Marlian Records after two years of association.

On October 5, 2022, he accused his manager, singer Naira Marley, of assault, alleging that his former boss had instructed others to physically attack him after he expressed his desire to engage a different manager for his music and business affairs.

Following MohBad’s tragic passing, reports emerged regarding his filing of a police report in June 2023.

The report detailed allegations against Samson Erinfolami Balogun, also known as “Sam Larry,” a music promoter closely associated with Marley.

MohBad asserted that Balogun had assaulted him and caused damage to his property. According to the report, Balogun interrupted a video shoot accompanied by a group of 15 armed individuals claiming affiliation with monarch Oba Elegushi.

However, subsequent police statements revealed MohBad’s non-attendance at a follow-up meeting to address these allegations.

Balogun and other accused parties then filed a defamation complaint. Oba Elegushi distanced himself from Balogun, expressing condolences on MohBad’s demise.
