VeryDarkMan’s Detention Ends After Nine Days

by Beyondboders

After nine days in police custody, Martins Vincent Otse, famously known as VeryDarkMan, has finally been released.

The activist who is well-known for his social media critiques, regained his freedom late Sunday, sparking relief among his followers.

VeryDarkMan’s detention had stirred widespread concern about freedom of speech and online expression in Nigeria.

Many of his supporters and fellow activists expressed outrage over his arrest, questioning the motives behind it.

The police arrested VeryDarkMan based on multiple petitions against his online activities. However, the specific allegations against him remain undisclosed.

Omoyele Sowore, the leader of the #RevolutionNow movement, confirmed VeryDarkMan’s release through a post shared on Sunday.

This marks the second time this year that the critic has been detained by the police.

Earlier in January, he was reported to have been arrested following a petition by actress Tonto Dikeh regarding comments he made about the late Nigerian singer, Mohbad’s case.
