A senior figure in Ibadanland, Oba Abimbola Ajibola, known as the Otun Balogun Olubadan, has expressed concerns about the readiness of the designated Olubadan, Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, to assume the throne.
According to Oba Ajibola, Olakulehin is currently unwell and unfit for the responsibilities of ruling.
The position of Olubadan became vacant following the passing of Oba Lekan Balogun, who held the throne for two years until his death at the age of 81.
Oba Ajibola conveyed his apprehensions to reporters at his residence in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
He emphasized the importance of patience, questioning the rush to install Olakulehin. Oba Ajibola, who is next in line to the Olubadan throne, stated that Olakulehin has not engaged with the community or even contacted him, his deputy.

Regarding a recent gathering at Chief BodeAmoo’s residence, where there were purported discussions on endorsing Olakulehin, Oba Ajibola distanced himself from any such decision.
He expressed his refusal to participate in what he termed an “illegality,” urging for Olakulehin’s recovery before any further steps.
Despite acknowledging Olakulehin as the designated successor, Oba Ajibola stressed the importance of allowing him time to recuperate.
He questioned whether anyone had seen Olakulehin since the previous Friday, indicating the urgency of prioritizing his health over hasty appointments.
The situation surrounding the Olubadan succession remains fluid, with concerns over Olakulehin’s fitness for the role taking precedence.
