The Nigerian Correctional Service has promised to ensure the safety of Mr. Idris Okuneye, commonly known as Bobrisky, during his six-month sentence in the male section of the prison.
Following his guilty plea to misusing naira, Bobrisky was sentenced to prison by Justice Abimbola Awogboro of the Lagos Division of the Federal High Court.
Throughout the court proceedings, Bobrisky affirmed his male gender identity.
Despite concerns about potential harm, prison authorities assured Bobrisky that measures would be in place to protect him from any sexual assault by fellow inmates.
“He shouldn’t be afraid of sexual assault from other male inmates because our men can give him protection,” they affirmed.
