Authorities in Kano State have delved into a tragic incident involving the killing of a six-year-old boy, Mohammed Saidu, who was allegedly beheaded by a 16-year-old Almajiri named Abdullahi.
Beyond Boders gathered that the event unfolded in Kanwa village, within Madobi local government area of the state.
The Kano State Police Command initiated a thorough investigation into the matter. According to CP Usaini Gumel, the State’s Commissioner of Police, Abdullahi, hailing from Zamfara State, was caught by a vigilant citizen in Kanwa village with a knife stained with blood, believed to be the weapon used in the crime.
Upon police intervention, Abdullahi confessed to the gruesome act and admitted to disposing of the victim’s head in a nearby pit toilet adjacent to a primary school.
However, Abdullahi’s capture did not end there. Enraged locals sought retribution and attempted to lynch him.

Despite rescue efforts and immediate medical attention at Kwankwaso Cottage Hospital, Abdullahi succumbed to his injuries.
Reports indicate that Abdullahi had resided in the village since 2021, but had left the area four months prior to the incident, only to return unexpectedly.
Umar Maitama Yusuf, the Village Head, recounted that Abdullahi had previously worked for the victim’s family but was dismissed due to alleged theft.
Yusuf revealed the chilling sequence of events, stating that Abdullahi enticed the victim to a nearby primary school’s toilet, where he carried out the horrific deed.
The village was thrown into chaos when a young boy discovered the victim’s head hidden in a soakaway, prompting swift action from the enraged community.
Despite efforts to detain Abdullahi within the village head’s palace for police interrogation, the mob’s fury prevailed.
Yusuf explained that the mob, comprising thousands gathered for Sallah festivities, stormed the palace, vandalizing property and ultimately killing Abdullahi out of fear that he might evade justice if handed over to the authorities.
“They eventually had their way and entered the room where Abdullahi was kept and killed him there because they feel he might be freed later if they hand him over to the police,” Yusuf lamented.
The deceased victim was promptly laid to rest in accordance with Islamic customs, while Abdullahi’s body was transported to the mortuary at Murtala Muhammed Hospital for further investigation.
