Popular Nollywood actress, Doris Simeon, recently opened up about her decision to move to the United States in a candid interview with her colleague, Kunle Afod.

Simeon who gained fame in the Yoruba film industry in the early 2000s, disclosed that her primary motive for relocating in 2018 was to be closer to her child.

“As many people know, my child and his father reside in America, and that’s one of the reasons I decided to relocate here,” she explained.

Expressing her nostalgia for Nigeria, Simeon shared, “I miss Nigeria a lot, especially the roadside food vendors. Things like roasted yam, roasted corn, food that they hawk.”

The actress, despite missing her homeland, has not returned since her move.

She also confessed to missing her family, friends, and the camaraderie on movie sets, often reminiscing while seeing fellow actors share behind-the-scenes moments on social media.

Simeon’s journey in the entertainment industry started with a stint as a newscaster before transitioning to acting.

Her breakthrough came with her role in the 2010 movie ‘Ghetto Dreamz’, after initially appearing in the Wale Adenuga family sitcom, ‘Papa Ajasco’.

Known for her versatility, Simeon has starred in over 100 films, showcasing her talent in both Yoruba and English movies.

In 2008, she tied the knot with Nollywood filmmaker Daniel Ademinokan. However, the marriage ended in 2011, although they share a son.
