What Rescued Man Said After Falling into Lagos Lagoon – Agency

by Beyondboders

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) has saved a man who accidentally fell into the Lagos lagoon.

Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, the agency’s Permanent Secretary, shared this news, stating that the agency got a call at 7:43 a.m. on Friday through the Lagos State emergency numbers 767 and 112, as the caller had reported that a man had fallen into the lagoon at Falomo Bridge.

“LASEMA activated the state’s Emergency Response Plans with the swift arrival of LASEMA Response Team from Lekki zone at the incident scene at 8.02 a.m,” he said.

When the team arrived, they found that the man, Segun Amoo, had been revived. Amoo explained that he had fallen into the lagoon by accident.

Officials from the Lagos State Water Authority (LASWA) at their Falomo office saw Amoo struggling in the water late Thursday night.

They said, “Our staff had, around 11.00 p.m. yesterday (Thursday) night, observed Amoo struggling for survival in the lagoon waters after he fell off the bridge, thereby leading to the LASWA Rescue Team’s response.”

The LASWA team rescued Amoo and their paramedics stabilized him. After he was revived, Amoo gave his home address in Ilaje-Bariga, Lagos. He assured everyone that he did not fall into the lagoon on purpose.

The LASEMA team then went to Amoo’s home address to investigate further and handed him over to his family.

Amoo’s brother, Atteji Benuwa, said the family had been looking for him and thanked the rescue team for saving him.
