LAGOS: Guest Dies at Birthday Party, Host Arrested

A woman named Salisu Aishat and seven others were arrested after a man died at a birthday party in Lagos.

The incident which happened in Ijora Badia, Lagos State, had Aishat celebrating her birthday, with guests invited to join her on Olayemi Street.

During the party, people were having fun when they noticed a man lying on the floor, unconscious.

When they checked on him, they saw he had a wound on his head, which made them suspect something bad had happened.

A source, who did not want to be named, said the party turned chaotic when a fight broke out. It seemed the man got hurt during the fight.

“There was a party on Olayemi Street, Ijora Badia, and a fight broke out during the celebration. Suddenly, the man was found lying down on the ground and when people moved closer to him, they discovered he had died and a wound was on his head,” the source said.

The case was reported to the Ijora Badia Police Division. When the police arrived, they arrested Aishat and seven others.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident. He said it happened around 9:10 pm on April 16, 2024, while a community member reported it to the police.

“The DPO led his patrol team to the scene and the celebrant, Salisu Aishat, and seven others were arrested. A wound was discovered on the head of the corpse.

“The corpse was evacuated and deposited in the Mainland Hospital morgue, Yaba, for preservation and autopsy. The investigation is ongoing,” Hundeyin said.
