by Beyondboders

A dreadful incident unfolded in the Indian capital when a fire ravaged a hospital for newborns, resulting in the loss of six innocent lives, as confirmed by the police on Sunday.

The authorities revealed that amidst the chaos, brave individuals rushed into the inferno to rescue the fragile infants.

However, despite their efforts, six newborns could not be saved, disclosed Senior Police Officer Surendra Choudhary in a statement.

Although all 12 babies were evacuated from the hospital with the help of volunteers, tragically, half of them did not survive.

Choudhary stated that legal measures are being pursued against the hospital’s owner, but did not provide specifics on how the infants perished.

The devastating fire erupted late Saturday at the New Born Baby Care hospital located in Delhi’s Vivek Vihar area.

Atul Garg, the Director of Delhi Fire Department, informed that 14 fire trucks rushed to combat the blaze. He attributed the rapid spread of the fire to an explosion in an oxygen cylinder.

Expressing grief over the incident, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal termed it as “heartbreaking” and assured solidarity with the bereaved families.

He pledged a thorough investigation into the causes of the tragedy, promising accountability for any negligence.
