The Federal Government has decided to halt the Air Nigeria Airline project without a set date for resumption.
Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace, revealed this development during a press briefing on Monday to commemorate the first anniversary of the Tinubu administration.
Explaining the decision, Keyamo emphasized, “It remains suspended and it was never Air Nigeria. It was only plated Air Nigeria. It was Ethiopian Airlines trying to fly our flag.”
The minister questioned the rationale behind allowing foreign airlines to represent Nigerian interests instead of empowering local carriers.
He expressed, “Why not allow our local people to fly our flag? Why bring foreign airlines to fly our flag?”
Keyamo urged the public not to be misled by claims that the airline in question was genuinely Air Nigeria.
