Man Utd Close to Signing Jarrad Branthwaite

by Beyondboders

Manchester United have agreed on personal terms with Jarrad Branthwaite, but they still need to settle on a transfer fee with Everton.

Branthwaite, 21, is a key target for United as Sir Jim Ratcliffe takes over as the club’s co-owner.

The Everton defender had an impressive season at Goodison Park after a successful loan spell with PSV Eindhoven. He narrowly missed making England’s squad for Euro 2024.

United admire Branthwaite’s skills with the ball, his aerial ability, and the fact that he is two-footed.

They are ready to offer him a salary of around £150,000 to £160,000 per week. However, Everton is asking for a £70 million transfer fee for Branthwaite, who joined them from Carlisle United in January 2020.

Everton wants to keep Branthwaite, but may consider selling if they receive a large offer. The club needs to balance their finances by June 30 to comply with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules.

Everton has already been penalized twice for not meeting financial requirements. If sold, Everton would need to pay Carlisle 15% of the transfer fee.

Branthwaite is seen as one of Europe’s most promising defenders, while United is also interested in 19-year-old Lille defender Leny Yoro, who has caught the eye of clubs like Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain.

United’s focus on summer transfers follows the decision to retain manager Erik ten Hag. Despite a poor season finish and a bad Champions League run, ten Hag’s tactical success in the FA Cup final against Manchester City convinced the club to keep him after extensive review.
