MultiChoice, the owner of DStv and GOtv, has lowered the subscription prices for both services.
This change follows a court order that told the company to stop its planned price increase; the new prices were updated on the company’s apps on Sunday, June 16, 2024.
Beyond Boders recalls that MultiChoice initially wanted to fight the order from the Competition Consumer Tribunal (CCT) because it lost over a million subscribers in Nigeria.
Now, DStv subscribers will see lower prices. The Premium package now costs N29,500, down from N37,000. The Compact+ package costs N19,800, down from N25,000.
GOtv subscribers will also pay the old rates. GOtv Max now costs N5,700, GOtv Joli costs N3,950, and GOtv Jinja costs N2,700, down from the new rate of N3,300.

It is still unclear if MultiChoice will offer a free month of subscription as the court ordered.
So far, the company has not made any official statements about this issue. The price cuts are meant to help customers during tough economic times in Nigeria, with high inflation and a weak naira.
