Sophia Momodu has accused Nigerian music star Davido of neglecting their daughter, Imade, for the last two years.
She said Davido has not seen or contacted Imade since July 2022, despite her allowing him access.
This accusation came as a response to a legal case Davido filed against her for custody of their daughter.
Momodu’s lawyers, Punuka Attorneys & Solicitors and Bimpe Ajegbomogun & Co, shared this in a statement dated June 22, 2024.
The case, filed by Davido’s lawyers at the Lagos State High Court, listed David Adedeji Adeleke (Davido) as the applicant and Momodu as the respondent.

Davido claimed he has been taking care of Imade by paying for her school fees, transportation, and housing. He said he even bought an apartment for them in Victoria Island, Lagos, but Momodu insisted he continues to pay ₦5 million annually for a rented place instead.
He also said he bought vehicles for Imade’s transportation needs, but Momodu did not inform him when one vehicle stopped working.
Momodu responded by stating that Davido chose not to see Imade and has not contacted her on important occasions like her birthday and Christmas, causing Imade distress.
She claimed Davido only posts pictures of Imade on social media to appear like a caring father.
Momodu also said that since their breakup in July 2022, Davido stopped providing financially for Imade. She had to cover all expenses, including rent, school fees, and healthcare.
She revealed that after multiple attempts to get Davido to pay school fees, his father eventually settled the debts.
Momodu added that attempts to establish a co-parenting arrangement have failed, as Davido’s lawyers were uncooperative. She insists that Davido’s real support should be his presence and emotional care, not just financial help.
“Sophia has never denied him the opportunity to see his daughter. He has not reached out on special occasions such as her birthday or Christmas for the past two years, which has left his daughter distressed and questioning why her father has cut contact with her,” the statement read.
Momodu stressed that she has always allowed Davido to see Imade, but he has shown more interest in maintaining a relationship with her than being a father to their daughter.
She concluded by wishing Davido well in his current relationship and expressed her desire to live free from harassment and verbal abuse.
