The National Films and Videos Censors Board (NFVCB) has warned that it is against the law to release skits, films, or music videos without getting approval from them.
The NFVCB’s job is to give age ratings and advice on content to make sure it is suitable for families and protects children.
Now, the NFVCB has included skits and music videos in their approval process. This means content creators must get their work checked before sharing it.
A statement from the NFVCB says, “It is also an offence to distribute or exhibit any film or video content including skits and musical videos on any platform without recourse to the National Film and Video Censors Board for classification.”
Shaibu Husseini, the executive director, warned that the NFVCB is working with security agencies to find and punish those who break this rule. He said, “We are collaborating with relevant security agencies to track the individuals and production companies involved, and will stop at nothing to make sure they face the full wrath of the law.”

The NFVCB also spoke against promoting same-sex content on social media, reminding filmmakers that showing same-sex relationships in public is illegal in Nigeria.
Thus, content creators should get their work approved by the NFVCB to avoid legal problems.
