Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony Sparks International Backlash Over Last Supper Mockery

by Beyondboders

Several U.S. and world leaders are upset about the 2024 Paris Olympics opening ceremony.

They say the show made fun of the famous painting “The Last Supper” by Leonardo Da Vinci. This painting shows Jesus having his last meal with his apostles.

House Speaker Mike Johnson, from Louisiana, said on X (formerly Twitter), “Last night’s mockery of the Last Supper was shocking and insulting to Christian people around the world who watched the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games.

“The war on our faith and traditional values knows no bounds today. But we know that truth and virtue will always prevail.”

He also quoted a Bible verse, John 1:15, saying, “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, from Georgia, also spoke against the ceremony on social media, criticizing the French Olympic Committee for trying to remove videos of the ceremony, calling it a “satanic, trans, and occult” event.

She said it is their right to share these videos and speak out against the anti-Christian ceremony.

Italy’s Deputy Prime Minister, Matteo Salvini, posted a picture of the drag queens next to the Last Supper, calling the act a “really bad start” and “seedy.”

Hungary’s ambassador to the Vatican, Eduard Habsburg, compared the event to the beheading of Marie Antoinette, saying, “Decapitating Habsburgs and ridiculising central Christian events are really the FIRST two things that spring to mind when you think of the Olympic Games.”

Fox Nation host, Piers Morgan, although not a lawmaker, also shared his anger. He posted a picture of the drag queens at a table and asked, “Btw, what the f – – – was all this about?”

He said it was a bad decision to mock the Last Supper and questioned if they would mock any other religion like this, noting that people would be even more upset if they had mocked Islam in this way.
