Bashir Ahmad, who used to work for ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, has said the telecom companies have not blocked phone lines because of upcoming protests.
Beyond Boders reports that many persons on Sunday, complained on social media, that MTN and Airtel had blocked their phone lines.
However, Ahmad posted on X (formerly Twitter) that a senior government official told him the blockages are not related to the protests planned for next week.
Ahmad explained that the lines were blocked because the National Identification Number (NIN) details did not match the information given during SIM registration. For example, the names or dates of birth did not match.
He said, “The lines were actually blocked because the NIN details did not match the information submitted during SIM registration. Examples of such mismatches include discrepancies in names or dates of birth.’
