Tear Gas Fired at Lekki Toll Gate to Disperse Protesters

by Beyondboders

Protesters at the Lekki toll gate in Lagos State were forced to flee after security forces fired tear gas to disperse them.

The protest happened under heavy security, with officers from the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigerian Army, and other units stationed around the toll gate.

A security officer told the protesters to move to specific areas set aside for protests, but when they refused, the police used tear gas to break up the crowd.

This incident comes after a Lagos State High Court decision on Tuesday that limited protests to certain places in the state.

Justice Emmanuel Ogundare ruled that protests should only be held at Gani Fawehinmi Freedom Park in Ojota and Peace Park in Ketu.
