UNIBEN Set to Reopen with New Conditions for Students

by Beyondboders

The University of Benin (UNIBEN) will reopen on August 11, after being temporarily closed due to student protests and unrest.

Beyond Boders recalls that the school had been shut down on July 4, with students asked to leave their hostels immediately.

In a new announcement, the university’s registrar, Ademola Bobola, said that students can return to their hostels on Sunday, with classes starting again on Monday.

During the break, the university resolved the problems that led to the closure, including fixing electricity and water supply issues and renovating the hostels.

As part of the conditions for returning, students must swear an affidavit promising good behaviour.

Bobola stated, “As part of the conditions for resumption, each returning student is required to swear an affidavit of undertaking to be of good conduct while at the university.”

The registrar warned that students who do not follow these instructions may have their results withheld. He assured everyone that all issues leading to the closure have been addressed, and he expects academic activities to continue without problems.
