Bissouma Suspended by Tottenham Amid Controversy Over Laughing Gas Video

by Beyondboders

Tottenham Hotspur has suspended midfielder Yves Bissouma from their Premier League match against Leicester City on Monday.

This decision follows a video that surfaced showing Bissouma inhaling laughing gas, also known as nitrous oxide.

The 27-year-old player apologized for his actions, calling it a “severe lack of judgment.”

Despite his apology, Tottenham has decided to take action. Tottenham’s manager, Ange Postecoglou, confirmed Bissouma’s suspension, emphasizing the need for the player to rebuild trust with the team.

Using nitrous oxide for fun has been illegal in the UK since 2023 and can lead to a two-year prison sentence.

Postecoglou stated, “We’ve suspended him from Monday’s game. Beyond that, there’s also some trust-building that needs to happen between Biss and me, as well as Biss and the group. That’s what he needs to work hard at from now on – to try to win that back. He’s going to have to earn that.

“The door is open for him and, hopefully, we can help him realise the decisions he makes impacts more than just him.”

Bissouma, who transferred to Tottenham from Brighton in 2022 for £30 million, played in a friendly match against Bayern Munich before posting the video online.

Postecoglou expressed his disappointment, highlighting that Bissouma not only made a poor personal decision, but also failed in his responsibilities as a professional footballer.

The manager stressed that while everyone makes mistakes, it is up to Bissouma to learn from this incident and make better choices in the future.
