DAAR Communications PLC, the company that owns African Independent Television (AIT), Raypower, and Faaji FM, has announced the retirement of some top leaders in the organization.
This includes Mr. Tony Akiotu and Dr. Oluwatosin Dokpesi, as gathered by Beyond Boders.
The retirements will take effect on October 31, 2024. This decision is part of DAAR Communications’ policy that requires executives who have served for more than 10 years to step down.
The announcement was made in a statement by the company’s secretary, Miji Jonah, on August 19, 2024.
This followed reports that DAAR Communications had removed some directors, including Tony Akiotu and Oluwatosin Dokpesi.

However, the company clarified that these executives are retiring as per the company’s internal rules.
In the statement, DAAR Communications said, “A decision has been taken to retire members of executive management who have spent over 10 years in executive capacity in compliance with the Company’s Internal Control Policies and Procedures Manual. As such, the Company wishes to announce the retirement of the following members of its Executive Management.”
The retired executives include:

– Engr. Anthony Uyah
– Ms. Paulyn Ugbodagha
– Mrs. Mary Lawrence-Dokpesi
– Ms. Faith Ikems
– Mr. Imoni Mac Amarere
– Mr. John Iwarue
– Mr. Johnson Onime
The board thanked the leaders for their valuable contributions and wished them well in their future endeavors.
DAAR Communications also shared that they are in the process of reorganizing their leadership. Once this process is complete, the company will officially inform the Nigerian Exchange (NGX), regulatory bodies, shareholders, and the general public.
