Aloy Ejimakor, the main lawyer for Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has pointed out two former high-ranking security officials as responsible for Kanu’s forced return to Nigeria.
Ejimakor revealed that Ahmed Rufai, the former head of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), and Yusuf Bichi, the former head of the Department of State Services (DSS), played key roles in bringing Kanu back to Nigeria against his will.
Beyond Boders recalls that Kanu was forcibly taken from Kenya to Nigeria in June 2021.
He had left Nigeria after being granted bail by a Federal High Court in Abuja. Kanu fled the country in 2017 after the Nigerian Army raided his home in Abia State.
After being on the run, Kanu was eventually captured and returned to Nigeria from Kenya.
Recently, President Bola Tinubu replaced Rufai and Bichi with Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed and Adeola Ajayi as the new heads of NIA and DSS.
In a post on social media platform X, Ejimakor wrote: “Do you know that Ahmed Rufai, who just resigned as DG, NIA, and Yusuf Bichi, who was yesterday replaced as DG, DSS, were vicariously responsible for the extraordinary rendition of MAZI NNAMDI KANU? Who is next? #TouchNotMyAnointed.”
