Victor Osimhen has been left out of Napoli’s Serie A squad after his move to Chelsea fell through, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The 25-year-old striker will also lose his No. 9 shirt, which will be worn by new signing Romelu Lukaku for the rest of the season.
Romano reports that Osimhen’s relationship with Napoli is now “broken,” and he has been removed from the first team.
Even though Saudi clubs have three days left in their transfer window, they are not expected to pursue Osimhen, says Rudy Galetti.
ESPN’s James Olley reported on Friday that Napoli had agreed to sell Osimhen to Saudi Pro League team Al Ahli for €80 million. However, Osimhen seemed reluctant to leave European football.
Chelsea had shown strong interest and tried to finalize a deal over the past few days, but they were unable to reach an agreement in time. As a result, Osimhen will stay with Napoli until the January transfer window opens.
