A protest broke out at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos after Nigerian Immigration officers arrested Omoyele Sowore on Sunday.
Sowore, who runs Sahara Reporters, arrived in Nigeria that morning and was briefly detained by the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS). He was later released.
The arrest caused anger among some people at the airport, many of whom wore orange shirts and berets, the colours of Sowore’s #RevolutionNow movement.
A report on Thursday said that the Department of State Services (DSS) had given orders to arrest Sowore and bring him to their headquarters when he arrived in the country.

This is not the first time the DSS has arrested and released a journalist. In August, they arrested Adejuwon Soyinka, a former BBC editor, but later released him, saying it was a case of mistaken identity.
