Parents of young people arrested during the recent #EndBadGovernance protests have gathered at the Kano State House of Assembly to ask for their children’s release.
Malam Nura Ahmad, speaking for the parents, said that about 70 youths were arrested and taken to Abuja. He added that the youths were being treated harshly.
The protests happened from August 1 to August 10 across Nigeria to complain about the hard times under the current government.
Ahmad shared that the youths had not been allowed to bathe since they were arrested and were only given one meal a day.
The parents are frustrated as they have not been able to get bail for their children. They said their efforts to do so have been blocked.
