Ghana Considers Fuel Imports from Dangote Refinery

by Beyondboders

Ghana is exploring the option of importing fuel from Nigeria’s Dangote Refinery to address its fuel supply needs.

Beyond Boders learned that officials in Ghana believe that sourcing fuel from the newly operational Dangote facility could help stabilize local fuel prices and ensure a more consistent supply.

The Dangote Refinery, one of the largest in Africa, has a production capacity of 650,000 barrels per day.

Ghana’s energy authorities are in early discussions to finalize the terms of this potential import arrangement.

“If the refinery reaches 650,000 bpd a day capacity, all that volume cannot be consumed by Nigeria alone, so instead of us importing as we do right now from Rotterdam, it will be much easier for us to import from Nigeria and I believe that will bring down our prices,” a Ghanaian official stated.

If successful, this collaboration could benefit both countries, boosting trade ties and energy security.
