In Philadelphia on Monday night, Oprah Winfrey joined Kamala Harris on stage for a final rally before Election Day, accompanied by 10 young people voting for the first time.
One young voter explained to Oprah why he decided to vote for Harris, saying, “The policies that Kamala Harris has proposed for women’s reproductive rights and education equality are what led me to cast my ballot for her.”
Another first-time voter, an African American, expressed how important it was for him to vote, honouring the struggles his ancestors faced for this right.
“We don’t get to sit this one out. If we don’t show up tomorrow, it is entirely possible that we will not have the opportunity to ever cast a ballot again,” Oprah said passionately to the crowd.
She urged everyone to take action, saying, “We are voting for healing over hate.”
