Kamala Harris, the Democratic candidate and current U.S. Vice-President, has accepted defeat in the 2024 presidential election.
She called Donald Trump, the president-elect, to offer her congratulations.
According to CBS News, Harris praised the importance of a peaceful transfer of power and emphasized that Trump must work to be a president for all Americans.
Harris is set to address her supporters tomorrow, with a public speech expected at Howard University later today.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump, through a statement from his campaign manager, thanked his supporters, saying they played a huge role in this achievement. He promised to lead Americans to new heights.
In his message, Trump described his win as an “unmatched political victory” and vowed to “fight for America.” He repeated his campaign message, stating, “I will not rest until we have delivered the strong, safe and prosperous America that our children deserve and that you deserve.”
Trump ended by saying, “Thank you once again for electing me in a victory.”
