Microsoft-backed OpenAI has announced that its popular chatbot, ChatGPT, is now back online after experiencing a short outage that affected many users.
The company confirmed on Friday that the issues with ChatGPT were fixed.
Most users regained access to ChatGPT by 4:34 p.m. PT (0034 GMT on Saturday), while a few others had to wait until 5 p.m. (0100 GMT on Saturday) for full access.
OpenAI’s CEO, Sam Altman, posted on social media platform X, sharing that ChatGPT was down for about 30 minutes.
He added a frown emoji and commented, “We are much, much better at reliability than we used to be, but clearly more work in front of us.”

According to Downdetector.com, a website that tracks outages, over 19,000 users experienced problems with ChatGPT during this period.
Since its launch in November 2022, ChatGPT has grown quickly, with 250 million weekly active users.
OpenAI’s value has also risen significantly, reaching $157 billion in 2023, up from $14 billion in 2021, with yearly revenues now estimated at $3.6 billion.
