Bishop T.D. Jakes, a well-known American pastor, had a medical emergency while preaching at The Potter’s House in Dallas, Texas, on Sunday.
The 67-year-old preacher is the founder of the 30,000-member megachurch and is famous for his motivational sermons.
A video shared online shows Bishop Jakes pausing mid-sermon, lowering his microphone, and appearing to shake in his seat. People on stage quickly came to his aid as the congregation was asked to pray for him.
The Potter’s House released a statement later, confirming that Bishop Jakes experienced a “slight health incident” and received medical care immediately after delivering a powerful hour-long message. “Bishop Jakes is stable and under the care of medical professionals,” the church assured.
Before the incident, Jakes spoke about the joy of preaching, quoting scripture and sharing heartfelt thoughts with the audience. “I still love to preach. I ain’t tired of preaching,” he said.

He also recited Psalm 19:14: “Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O Lord, my strength, my redeemer, let them go in peace.”
Moments later, he stopped speaking and appeared to go silent, sparking concern among attendees.
The pastor’s team later posted on X (formerly Twitter), thanking supporters for their prayers and love. “The entire Potter’s House family is grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support from the community,” the statement said.
Bishop Jakes remains under medical care as his church family and followers continue to send prayers for his recovery.
