Kemi Badenoch, a Nigerian-British leader of the Conservative Party, has promised to fix the UK’s immigration system if elected.
She called the current system “broken” and said big changes are needed.
“We can’t go on like this. We need to change,” she stated.
Badenoch, who has a diverse background, talked about the importance of helping immigrants blend into British society.
“When people come here, they must buy into the values, customs, and institutions that attracted them here in the first place,” she explained. She warned that immigration without proper integration could harm the country’s unity.
She also highlighted the problems caused by uncontrolled immigration, such as pressure on housing, healthcare, and wages. Badenoch criticized past leaders for ignoring these challenges.
“The political class has glossed over this issue or treated it as a fringe concern, and that has to stop,” she said.
Badenoch wants stricter laws to stop abuse of the immigration system. She emphasized the need to welcome people who contribute positively while keeping out those who take unfair advantage.
“Limited immigration can work for this country when done right,” she said.
She also promised a clear plan to cut immigration numbers and accused the Labour Party of failing to handle the issue properly.
As a child of Nigerian immigrants, Badenoch said she understands the challenges of immigration and wants to promote unity across the nation.
“It’s time to tell the truth on immigration, and that’s exactly what I’m going to do,” she concluded.
