Funke Akindele’s movie, “Everybody Loves Jenifa,” will soon be shown in cinemas across six continents.
While FilmOne Entertainment keeps the rights to show the film in Nigeria, Nile Media has acquired the international rights for global distribution.
The announcement was made on Nile Media’s Instagram page, where the company also shared cinema dates for the film.
“Nile Media Entertainment proudly announces international theatrical distribution for @funkejenifaakindele’s Everybody Loves Jenifa, the first Nigerian film to be released in 30 countries across 6 continents,” the post read.
The film will premiere in the UK at Odeon Cinemas, Greenwich, on December 20, 2024. Other countries on the list include Italy, Ireland, Germany, Spain, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Belgium, and Canada.
Nile Media, led by Moses Babatope, was founded after his departure from Filmhouse, where he served as managing director of FilmOne Entertainment. In less than a year, Nile Media has been involved in several major projects, including acquiring the rights to distribute “Wives on Strike 3” by Omoni Oboli and introducing a voucher system for pre-ordering cinema tickets.
In October, the company also partnered with the Ooni of Ife to manage Ojaja Cinemas, which plans to open 1,000 screens across Nigeria.
This international success highlights the growing recognition of Nigerian films on the global stage.
