Music executive Ubi Franklin has responded to accusations from singer Spyro, who alleged that Ubi used Davido’s name to secure a performance deal without proper payment.
Spyro, during a Wednesday interview, claimed that Ubi convinced him to perform at a birthday event in Ghana with a promise of payment tied to Davido. Spyro said the promised payment never came.
In response, Ubi denied the claims, saying they were meant to ruin his reputation.
Speaking on Instagram Live, Ubi mentioned a separate issue involving money. He said Spyro owes him 10% from a car purchase he helped arrange.
Ubi explained that Spyro agreed to pay him after finishing the car payment in December, but has not done so yet.
Ubi also admitted to holding $5,000 meant for Spyro, stating it was to cover part of the ₦10.5 million he is owed.
On the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Ubi asked for the matter to be resolved and urged Spyro to stop involving Davido in the issue.
“I won’t let anyone ruin my reputation. Also, stop dragging Davido’s name into your narrative to gain attention. Why would I tell you Davido said something when you have direct access to him? That doesn’t add up.
“You owe me 10% from the car I helped you secure. You promised to pay me after completing the payment, which you did in December. I’ve been waiting since then. I still have $5,000 of yours, but you owe me ₦10.5 million. When you calculate it, you still owe me ₦2.5 million after deductions,” Ubi wrote.
The financial disagreement has caused tension, with both Ubi and Spyro standing firm on their sides of the story.
