There was a heated argument on Arise TV’s ‘Morning Show’ earlier today, between Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser on Public Communications and Media to President Bola Tinubu, and the anchor, Rufai Oseni.
Beyond Boders reports that the disagreement started when Oseni questioned Bwala on why he chose to work for the Tinubu government despite his past strong criticisms of the President.
During the interview, Bwala accused Oseni of trying to control his answers and reacted strongly.
“I’m not writing JAMB here; you cannot control me or talk to me like a secondary student. If you ask a question, pack and listen to the answer,” Bwala said.
Before joining Tinubu’s government, Bwala was a strong critic. As a spokesman for Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate in the 2023 election, he had accused Tinubu of election irregularities. He once called him a “president-select” instead of a “president-elect.”
Bwala also claimed that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) manipulated the election results and that the PDP had won by over one million votes.
However, he defended his decision to join Tinubu’s administration, saying his views changed after speaking with the President.
“I criticised Tinubu’s election and administration in the past because I was in the opposition. The opposition’s work is to criticise the sitting government. My views changed after I met the President, and he saw a need to appoint me,” Bwala explained.
The heated exchange has led to discussions about political loyalty and media fairness.
