The management of Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, Anambra State, has started an investigation into an incident involving a lecturer and a female student.
According to reports, the issue happened in the Department of Theatre Arts and involved a student making a TikTok video.
Viral videos show a third-year student from the Department of History and International Studies, Goddy Mbakwe Precious, dancing in a hallway while recording herself. A lecturer, Dr. Chukwudi Okoye, walked past and tapped her on the shoulder, asking her to move.
The student was reportedly upset by the lecturer’s action and reacted angrily. In the video, she accused him of hitting her, held onto his shirt, and dragged him in front of other students.
Reports also claim she bit the lecturer on his wrist and arm during the struggle. Despite the situation, the lecturer remained calm.
The university’s spokesman, Njelita Louis, confirmed that the school’s management, led by Acting Vice-Chancellor Prof. Joseph Ikechebelu, is looking into the matter.
