President Bola Tinubu has reacted to the decision of U.S. President Donald Trump to stop foreign aid to African countries, including Nigeria. Tinubu said he supports what is happening across the world.
Trump recently signed an order to suspend the activities of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), affecting several African nations.
Before this decision, USAID helped Nigeria in areas like economic growth, food security, health, gender equality, governance, and renewable energy.
Nigeria is the sixth-highest recipient of USAID funding. The suspension has caused concern across the country.
Speaking on Tuesday at the All Progressives Congress (APC) national caucus meeting in Abuja, Tinubu said the situation is a lesson for Nigeria and Africa.
“I like what is happening around the world, if anything, it is teaching a lesson that we particularly Nigerians and the great African continent can build ourselves and help Africa to grow,” Tinubu said.
