Popular Nigerian businessman, Obi Cubana, has made it clear that his biological son, Alex, is his official next of kin after his adopted son, Chidi, made a claim about it online.
It all started when Chidi posted a TikTok video, jokingly calling himself the next of kin with the caption:
“Nothing do my shoulder, I just realise say I be next of kin.”
In response, Obi Cubana shared a photo of his biological son, Alex, on Instagram with the caption:
“Ancient and modern, eyes on the ball. @dtwalx aka next of kin.”
He also commented under another post, calling Alex the “Correct boy, original next-of-kin.”

The situation quickly caused mixed reactions online. Some people felt Obi Cubana should have handled the matter privately by asking Chidi to remove the TikTok video and settling things at home. See reactions below:
Gladys_Onyetem: “A child that was jst doing a harmless video, una don reason plenty things put, na wah for una ooo…Una even Dey say na adopted child, I thought that’s his brothers child? Una don project una wicked family negativity on this innocent video….Una go Dey find village ppl, na una…”
DemoOfUK: “Nawa o. They say make you come chop, you carry long spoon come. Adopted why you wan dey claim omo onile for another person land.”
Abazwhyllzz: “Unnecessary. He should have told the guy to delete on TikTok,then solved it internally instead of coming to post sha. I be poor man make I mind my business.”
Soyecatherings: “I don’t think he thought of the consequences in the long run. This wasn’t the best way to address it sha. But even thinking about being the next of kin now simply means obi has to be unalive or old enough to not be able to run things.”
