Prince Al-Waleed bin Khaled Al-Saud, a Saudi royal who was in a coma for 20 years after a terrible car accident in London, has died at the age of 36.
The accident happened in 2005 when Prince Al-Waleed was just 15 years old. He was studying at a military school in London at the time. The crash caused serious injuries, including a brain bleed and internal damage. Since then, he remained unconscious and was on life support at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Over the years, he became known as the “Sleeping Prince.”
His father, Prince Khaled bin Talal Al Saud, confirmed the sad news on social media with a touching message.
“With hearts believing in Allah’s will and decree, and with deep sorrow and sadness, we mourn our beloved son: Prince Al-Waleed bin Khaled bin Talal bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, may Allah have mercy on him, who passed away today,” he wrote.
Prince Khaled never lost hope that his son would recover someday. Many in the country had followed the story of Prince Al-Waleed for years, hoping for a miracle.
