How APC Leader, Cairo Ojougboh, Died While Watching AFCON Match

A prominent figure in Nigerian politics, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, sadly died while watching the AFCON semi-finals match between Nigeria and South Africa.

Dr. Ojougboh, a former member of the House of Representatives representing the Ika Federal Constituency of Delta State, was also known as a leader within the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Sources close to him revealed that he suffered a fatal heart attack during the match.

“Cairo Ojougboh, a medical doctor died during the Nigeria vs.South Africa match.

“The incident happened when the penalty was awarded against Nigeria. Dr Ojougboh was said to have shouted and slumped due to massive heart attack when SA scored, a source disclosed.

His family has not yet issued an official statement regarding his passing. However, Mr. Augustine Ekamagule, the Publicity Secretary of Agbor Community Union, confirmed the sad news.

According to Ekamagule, Dr. Ojougboh passed away in Abuja, where he was watching the football match.

The President General of the Agbor Community Union, Chief Laurence Onyeche, received a call from a member of Dr. Ojougboh’s family around 3 am on Thursday, informing him of the tragic event.

Describing Dr. Ojougboh as a significant voice in Nigerian politics, Chief Onyeche expressed condolences on behalf of the Agbor community, highlighting Dr. Ojougboh’s impactful contributions to both local and national politics.

Beyond Boders further reports that the news of Dr. Ojougboh’s passing has sparked an outpouring of grief on social media, with friends and political associates mourning his loss.

President Bola Tinubu and presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar have also publicly expressed their condolences.
