The well-loved Nollywood actor, John Okafor, known by many as Mr. Ibu, has been laid to rest today, June 28, in his hometown of Amuri, located in the Nkanu West Local Government Area of Enugu State.
Videos circulating online show pallbearers carrying his casket to the cemetery, marking the final goodbye to the comedy star.
The funeral was attended by grieving family members and fellow actors from the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN).
The burial ceremonies will conclude on Sunday, June 30, with a church service to offer thanks and celebrate his life.
Beyond Boders recalls that the Okafor family previously announced in April that Mr. Ibu’s burial would take place on June 28, 2024, in his hometown.
Mr. Ibu was cherished for his humorous roles in numerous Nollywood films, leaving a lasting legacy in the Nigerian entertainment industry.
