President Bola Tinubu has praised the Super Eagles for their performance in the Africa Cup of Nations final in Ivory Coast.
As gathered by Beyond Boders, Tinubu, despite their loss to the host nation, commended the Eagles for their resilience and talent during the tournament.
In a statement released by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, on Sunday, Tinubu expressed his admiration for the team’s efforts.
Ivory Coast’s Elephants emerged victorious in the 2023 AFCON final, defeating the Super Eagles 2-1.
Tinubu emphasized that Nigeria’s presence and performance in the tournament were significant victories both within Africa and globally.
He said, “President Bola Tinubu salutes the Super Eagles of Nigeria for their tenacious performance in the final of the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in CĂ´te d’Ivoire.
“President Tinubu commends the team, the coach, the crew, and the entire management team for their hard work, assiduity, and sacrifice to come this far in the tournament, acknowledging the hurdles they consistently surpassed with steadily improving performance as they pulled through to the finals.”
Moreover, Tinubu urged Nigerians to remain optimistic, highlighting the nation’s resilience and determination displayed on the field.
He encouraged Nigerian youths, particularly those showcasing their talents in local communities, reminding them that they could become future heroes and assuring them of his administration’s support in achieving their dreams.
