The Nigerian House of Representatives is mourning the loss of Ekene Abubakar Adams, a lawmaker who died on Tuesday morning at age 39.
Beyond Boders reports that Adams represented the Chikun/Kajuru area of Kaduna and was a member of the Labour Party (LP).
He was the chairman of the House Committee on Sports and had worked as the general manager of Kada City Football Club and Remo Stars.
Adams was known for his dedication to sports and youth development. His hard work earned him respect from colleagues and the people he served.
Akin Rotimi, the House spokesperson, described Adams as a “dedicated public servant, passionate sports administrator, and kind philanthropist.”

Rotimi added that Adams was a “kind and gentle humanitarian, loved by all who knew him,” and his commitment to grassroots sports in Nigeria was strong.
Adams’ death follows the recent passing of Olaide Adewale Akinremi, a member who represented Ibadan North under the All Progressives Congress (APC), and Isa Dogonyaro, who represented Babura/Garki of Jigawa State and died in May.
With Adams’ death, the House of Representatives has lost three members in 2024. The loss of these dedicated public servants has created a significant void in Nigerian politics, and their absence will be deeply felt by their colleagues and the people they represented.
