Nigerian comedian and actor Adebowale Adedayo, famously known as Mr Macaroni, recently expressed his disappointment with Nigerian politicians, accusing them of showing little respect toward the people they serve.
According to Mr Macaroni, this lack of respect stems from a history of unaccountability to citizens.
Mr Macaroni’s criticism followed an incident involving Alexander Mascot Ikwechegh, a House of Representatives member from Abia State, who reportedly threatened an Uber driver. Ikwechegh allegedly said he would make the driver “disappear” from Nigeria and threatened to harm him and detain him in his generator house.
In a post shared on his social media platform, Mr Macaroni highlighted how Nigerian politicians often disregard the citizens who pay their salaries.
He cited an incident where the FCT Minister allegedly insulted Nigerians by asking, “Are you stupid?” while addressing them.
Mr Macaroni expressed frustration with the attitude, reminding officials that they are public servants, paid by and accountable to the people.
He urged Nigerians to remind their leaders that they are in office to serve, not to act as “chairmen” or look down on those they represent.
Mr Macaroni added that arrogance has no place in public office, and leaders must respect the responsibilities that come with their roles.
See post below:
Dear @GovWike , you are a PUBLIC SERVANT!
Next time you want to address the citizens who pay your salary, do so with utmost humility and respect.
Never go about asking Nigerians if they are stupid… you are not doing anyone a favor by being Minister!!!
