Alfred Keter, former MP of Nandi Hills, was taken by police while coming back from church on Othaya Road in Kileleshwa with his children.
After nearly six hours in police custody, he was released and spoke about the rough treatment during his arrest.
“Some of us are pronounced as anti-finance bill and that is the position. Don’t use intimidation to silence us so that you perpetuate what you want to do with it,” he said.
His wife, Joanne Keter, was heartbroken when armed men grabbed him in front of the family. She cried out, saying, “The people who came to abduct him were men. You people are fathers. God will avenge this for me because whatever you have left in the hearts of our children, it is only God who will avenge me. They kept on asking about their father’s whereabouts. May God punish you for me.”
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said the ex-MP was arrested for conspiracy and incitement to violence.

Keter denied this, saying it was due to his stance on the finance bill. “This is to confirm that Hon Keter was arrested earlier today by NPS Officers for conspiracy to traffic firearms and incitement to violence,” read the DCI statement.
He was booked at Kamukunji Police Station and then released pending further investigation.
President William Ruto mentioned in a media interview that Keter had ignored several police summons.
