Francisca Owumi, a well-known Nigerian reality TV star, has died.
Her family shared the sad news on Instagram, saying: “A daughter and sister. May her soul rest in peace, Amen.”
The exact date of her demise was not specified, but reports indicate she passed away after a short illness.
Francisca Owumi gained fame as the first runner-up on the first season of Big Brother Nigeria (BBNaija) in 2006. She was known for her lively dance performances and was a housemate alongside Katung Aduwak, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, Gideon Okeke, Maureen Osuji, Ify Ejikeme, and the late Joseph Ada.
In 2012, she briefly entered the music scene, releasing two singles, ‘Gbadun You’ and ‘Diva,’ under her own label, Cisca Entertainment.
Owumi was also a writer for Revista, an international magazine from Ghana.
Since the start of 2024, Nollywood has seen the loss of several celebrities, including Mr Ibu, Amaechi Muonagor, Junior Pope, Sisi Quadri, Ganiyu ‘Ogunjimi’ Oyeyemi, Olofa Ina, Adejumoke Aderounmu, Saratu Gidado, Reginald Ebere, Ethel Ekpe, among others.
