A court in Abuja has declared that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primary election held on February 22, 2024, is invalid.
This primary had chosen Asue Ighodalo as the PDP candidate for governor.
Justice Inyang Ekwo made this decision on Thursday; the case was brought to the court by unhappy delegates, led by Kelvin Mohammed.
The judge said that 378 delegates who were supposed to vote in the primary were not allowed to take part. This goes against the rules of the Electoral Act 2022 and the PDP guidelines.
The primary took place at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin.
