The Federal Government has announced that Wednesday, June 12, will be a public holiday to celebrate this year’s Democracy Day.
The news was shared by Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, on Tuesday.
In a statement released by Dr. Aishetu Ndayako, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Tunji-Ojo congratulated all Nigerians on this special occasion.
The statement encouraged everyone to remember the hard work of the country’s founding fathers.
While calling on people to keep Nigeria united, safe, and peaceful, Tunji-Ojo asked Nigerians to stay committed to democratic principles.
He also mentioned that President Bola Tinubu is focused on improving the nation’s economy and security.
The minister urged Nigerians and friends of Nigeria to appreciate the progress made so far and to look forward to a brighter future for Nigeria’s democracy.
