The national grid in Nigeria has experienced another breakdown, marking the ninth disruption this year.
This incident follows a troubling pattern, as the grid collapsed three times in one week last month.
The official National Grid Twitter account, @NationalGridNg, confirmed the issue at around 3 PM on Tuesday, saying, “National Grid suffers another setback. Restoration soon!”
However, the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has not yet released any statement about the cause of this latest blackout, leaving many Nigerians waiting for answers.
Earlier this year, on February 4, the grid collapsed at about 11:51 AM, causing a major power drop from 2,407 megawatts to just 31MW by noon. The grid completely shut down by 1 PM, leading to widespread blackouts across the country.
