The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) will release the results of the May/June 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) today, Monday, 12th August 2024.
Mrs. Moyosola Adesina, WAEC’s acting Head of Public Affairs, announced that Dr. Amos Dangut, the Head of the National Office (HNO), will officially release the results at WAEC’s headquarters in Yaba, Lagos.
The results are being released 45 days after the last exam was completed.
Earlier this year, in April, Dr. Dangut shared that out of the 1.8 million students who took the exam, about half were boys (902,328) and half were girls (912,016).
The exam covered 76 subjects, including 197 different papers, and was supervised by 30,000 teachers.
Dr. Dangut also stated, “In tune with our recent tradition, the results of candidates sitting the examination will be released 45 days after the conduct of the last paper, while certificates will be printed and issued to schools in less than 90 days after the release of results.”
Beyond Boders further reports that with the university admission process already in progress, the release of these results will be important for many students hoping to secure a place in higher education institutions this year, as some schools have already started their Post-UTME screening tests.
