Afrobeats superstar Burna Boy and popular socialite Cubana Chief Priest have engaged in a public war of words, sparking drama across social media.
The clash began when Burna Boy, whose real name is Damini Ogulu, referred to Cubana Chief Priest, whose real name is Pascal Okechukwu, as the “Owerri Rick Ross.” Many saw this as a subtle dig at the socialite, known for his friendship with fellow singer Davido.
In a post, Burna Boy wrote: “No forget say u be Azaman o And dem don gbe your plug wey him name na ‘Omo Igbo’ for ATL and na u be next #OwerriRickyrozay.”
Cubana Chief Priest quickly fired back, accusing Burna Boy of being upset and claiming the singer owes a London jeweler.
“Diddy oil the fastest way to PTSD. you never see anything, you and your bend down collect Grammy, he wrote.
He also added: “The Ferrari’s. The London jewelers debt. I’m coming. I have long waited for this moment. Osubrileeee oooo.”
In response, Burna Boy denied the claims, insisting he always pays in cash and does not owe anyone, unlike Cubana Chief Priest’s alleged “boss.”
Cubana Chief Priest then shared a throwback video of Burna Boy at his 2018 birthday party, claiming he paid the singer only ₦1 million to perform when Burna was not as famous. He also shared a clip of Burna asking him for a birthday cake, suggesting that his wealth predated Burna Boy’s rise to stardom.
The exchange has caused a buzz on social media, with fans and followers reacting to the back-and-forth drama.

IsabellaAmara: “I hope you all see why burna boy will never forgive speed Darlington. It takes one bád talk to damage someone’s reputation. I will never forgive anyone who tampered with my reputation. Never!!!”
Wizarab10: “Burna was poor and broke” is not a jab. You can’t mock a successful person for once being poor. That is a credit to their success. You people are terrible at throwing shade, considering it is easy to shade Burna. This is a curse of centring everything around money.”
effizzzyy: “Them no believe say Burna boy go surpass all their past achievements, you reach class first no mean say na you go graduate as best student.”
Olamide0fficial: “Burna Boy had his low days and humble beginnings but you can’t clown him for being a real hustler. Putting his sweat and blood into this music thing and making it against all odds is a big deal. That’s a true champ!!”
