Media personality, Toke Makinwa, is facing backlash online after expressing her disappointment over the destruction of property and looting of businesses during recent hunger protests in some parts of Nigeria.
Makinwa shared her thoughts on social media, saying, “Destroying properties and stealing from your fellow Nigerians who are passing through the same hardship is not right at all. This is very sad.”
In Kano, protesters reportedly attacked and looted the Digital Innovation Park, which was built to support Nigeria’s technical talent development.
The park was looted just days before its official opening, as confirmed by the Minister of Communications, Innovation, and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani.
In Katsina, there were also reports of looting and vandalism by individuals who took advantage of the protests.
However, Makinwa’s comments did not sit well with some persons online, leading to criticism and negative reactions from social media users.
